Welcome to the Martin J. Ryerson Middle School where we offer students the opportunity to be the best that they can be both educationally, as well socially. Our school is designed to provide students with a gradual transition from the elementary setting to the high school program. The school’s learning environment is structured to develop academic skills, artistic exploration, life skills and social maturity. At the middle school level we recognize the necessity to balance a rigorous academic program with an atmosphere that develops appropriate and successful social growth. At a time when students are maturing more rapidly than any other time in their lives, we have in place a strong support system that fosters academic, social and personal growth.
Extracurricular activities offered to students such as band, chorus, yearbook, drama production, literary magazine, student government, Art Club, Homework Club and Across the Ages, as well as our school’s Character Education program help students to gain confidence in their abilities to be leaders.
We are very fortunate to have a dedicated and professional faculty that works extraordinarily hard to create an outstanding learning community for all students here at Ryerson. The teachers’ commitment to excellence has made our school a special place and it is an environment that prepares our students for the challenges they will face in their future endeavors.
Whether it is our evolving curriculum, developmentally appropriate programs, or current technologies that enhance the way we teach our students; it is truly an exciting time to be a student at the Martin J. Ryerson Middle School. I look forward to having a wonderful and productive school year as we all work together in building a school community that places the needs of our students first and provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful.
