Grade 1: To go along with
their unit on reptiles, all of the first grade classes
created a "garden snake". The snake is essentially a
homemade "Chia Pet." They took a pair of pantyhose and
cut off one leg. Then the students took turns filling
the "snake" with potting soil and bird seed. When the
snake was done, they sprayed the entire thing with water
and "coiled" it into it's "den" (the plastic bag). In a
few days, they will hopefully have a green "garden
snake". The photos show students in Mrs. Schouten's
